Knowledge.
The ingredients in our skincare products are a combination of the best that Mother Nature has to offer and the latest and most advanced research in science.
We always make a conscious and responsible choice of ingredients to make our product line mild and gentle enough for the most sensitive of skins, but also innovative and advanced to fight the signs of aging and repair the skin at the cellular level.
Nature is an almost endless source of plant extracts that have incredible health benefits as antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, anti-irritants and anti-carcinogens. We help you to choose wisely as not everything that is natural and plant-derived is necessarily good for your skin.
What Makes Skindred Soul Unique?
Skindred Soul makes an effort to educate people about which ingredients in skincare are really beneficial and which ones can actually harm the skin. We believe our customers should be able to make a good choice when looking for skincare products. Nobody would ever use a perfume as a facial toner, but so many people buy toners and astringents that contain exactly the same irritating ingredients: alcohol and fragrance.
Nature and Science:Although Skindred Soul strongly believes in the healing power of nature, and all our products are at least 90% natural, we also believe that certain ingredients that are synthetically produced in the pristine environment of a lab, under the watchful eyes of skilled scientists, can do amazing things when it comes to skin repair and anti-aging (see more about this on our Science page).
We love nature but we also embrace science and we know that the responsible combination of the two is the best you can do for the health and beauty of your skin.
Eat Herbs, Don't Put Them On Your Skin:Rosemary is a delightful herb used in many delicious recipes. But as wonderful and beneficial as Rosemary is (when ingested it helps to digest fatty foods, calms the stomach, and has liver-protective properties), this highly fragrant plant can be a serious skin irritant.
Rosemary essential oil is a powerful convulsant (a drug that causes convulsions/cramps); if applied to the skin, it may cause seizures in otherwise healthy adults or children (Source: PubMed J Neurol. 1999 Aug;246(8):667-70).
That is why we love to cook with Rosemary, but you will never find this ingredient in any of our skincare products.
Say No To Essential Oils:Essential oils that are derived from highly fragrant plants such as rosemary, thyme, vetiver, sandalwood, cardamom, lavender, geranium, lemon, verbena, basil, fennel, sage, etc. can be very strong skin irritants and allergens, so we refuse to add these ingredients to our skincare products. Although many of these plant extracts do have some antioxidant or anti-bacterial properties, their allergy-inducing and irritating potential outweighs their health benefits by far.
Did you know that much of what we apply on our skin is absorbed directly into the bloodstream? For instance; when Lavender essential oil is rubbed onto the skin, only hours later traces can be found in the kidneys. More and more people are making the conscious decision to live healthier and make better choices with the foods they eat and the products they put on their skin. Many skincare companies seem to (ab-)use this positive trend, simply to sell their products, but they ignore (or don't know about) the tremendous amount of research and clinical studies that prove how harmful some of the ingredients are for skin.
Skindred Soul is committed to the health of your skin!
